Registered: 09-28-2005 Posts: 654 | Dr. Andrew Lieberman from the University of Michigan and a member of our Scientific Review Board had this to say when I contacted him: "Thanks for passing the on this question. I think it's quite possible that this same strategy could work in Kennedy's disease. The idea behind this approach is quite sound. The real hurdle is to deliver the gene therapy to the correct cells (motor neurons and maybe skeletal muscle) and to keep it going the life of the patient. Neither one of these is easy to accomplish, but I think it's an idea we should keep track of." |
