Question about back braces / lumbosacral orthosis
I have been having some trouble with weakness in my lower back muscles. I have been doing exercises to improve the strength but I think I am getting to the point where I will need a back brace or lumbosacral orthosis.

I would greatly appreciate any advice such as:
- What kind of LSO do you use and what do you like/dislike about it?
- Do you just buy one in your size, or is it helpful to go to a professional to get it fitted correctly? If yes, what kind of specialist do you see: orthotist, physical therapist, or what?

Thank you!

Dan, back and stomach muscles weaken as the disease progresses. I have really noticed a difference over the last few years. Exercise does help, but will not resolve the progression. A physical therapist or orthotist can help recommend and fit you with a brace, if needed.

As you learn more, please add your experiences and recommendations in the forum. It will be greatly appreciated.

I can very much relate to this topic. I'm 21 and have previously suffered from a lower back injury 3 years ago. Ever since, my back has been aching, especially when I sit for long hours at a time. I relied on both physiotherapy and acupuncture to relieve the pain and allow my back to fully heal. My physiotherapist recommended a lower back brace to provide me extra back support. Through my research online, I found a wide array of back braces to choose from. My experience with back pain is that, with proper care, support and exercise, will keep the problem at bay.
