Hi Folks,

A while back my uncle (My mom brother) was diagnosed with Kennedy Disease. By reading the articles, I realized that my mom can possibly a carrier. My question is where do one get test for this disease (in the Los Angeles area) and typically, how long is the process?

Hello there, I am a carrier, I live in the uk though. My farther has KD and went to his doctor and he refferd him to a Neurologist. He then had a bloodtest and got the results back within two months.

Your GP can take the blood and send it off to a special lab (there are several in the country). It takes a couple of (2-3) weeks for the response from the labs. The labs are listed here (http://www.kennedysdisease.org/res_dna.html), but this list is a little old and I am certain some new ones have been added. The actual test is shown here (http://216.245.161.151/TestView.aspx?testID=2471) and it is often helpful to give a copy to your doctor.
